  • Q. How is the meat cooked?

At McGoo’s Spitroast and Catering we cook all meats entirely on site to ensure the best quality and freshness possible. We use gas-fired spits which are smoke free, no cinders and are environmentally friendly.  The delectable aroma really sets the scene for a mouth-watering meal ahead.

    Q. Will there be enough food?

McGoo’s guarantee that there will be plenty of food for your guests. In most cases any "extra-hungry" guests can help themselves to seconds.

    Q. What happens with the leftovers?

All remaining food will be left for you to enjoy. We will place leftovers in plastic bags for you, so please reserve some space in your refrigerator.

    Q. What do I need to provide?

We would like you to provide some under-cover area for us to use for cooking and serving. If possible we would also like to use your kitchen for a while to assist in final preparation. So, basically, we need water, shelter and power. If these are unavailable, we can usually make other arrangements, but we must know in advance so your special occasion will be a great success.

    Q. When will your staff arrive?

We will discuss timing with you when you confirm final guest numbers and menu selections, but as a general guide, the following approximate times will apply.
Meats are all cooked entirely on site for absolute freshness and quality.

Spitroasts – We arrive approx 3½ to 4 hours prior to main course serving time.

Fingerfood - We arrive approx 2 hours prior to serving time.

Barbecue - We arrive approx 2 hours prior to main course serving time.

    Q. What happens if some of my guests do not turn up?

As we would have provided sufficient food, staff, and equipment to serve the number of guests that you confirmed with us, we still need to charge for that number. All left over food is yours to keep.

    Q. What happens if extra guests turn up?

We will always allow plenty of food when calculating food quantities, but cannot guarantee that everyone will be served if too many extras turn up. We will of course charge you for any extra guests, over and above your confirmed number.

    Q. What happens if some of my guests arrive late?

Please advise the cook on the day if you are aware of latecomers and we can arrange to put aside some food at serving time.

    Q. How do I make a booking?

Just phone us and we will be happy to discuss your needs and the date you want. To confirm that date for your special occasion, we require a deposit/booking fee of either $100.00 or 10% for more than 90 guests.

If you wish to pay by Credit Card, this can be arranged during office hours only.

    Q. When will you need my final details?

All menu selections, serving times, venue details and guest numbers need to be confirmed at least seven days prior to your function please. We don’t usually accept menu changes or reductions in numbers within one week of your function, as the food has been ordered and staffing has been arranged by then. We want everything to go as smoothly as possible for you on the day.

    Q. What happens if my function is cancelled or postponed?

Due to booking commitments and costs incurred in organising your function, the deposit/booking fee is non refundable. Your deposit will be held and can be deducted from the cost of a future function. If less than seven days notice is given to cancel or postpone a function, deposit/booking fee will be forfeited to help cover the cost of food that has been ordered or purchased.

    Q. When do I need to pay the balance?

The balance needs to be paid on the day of the function please. We can provide you with a final balance when we confirm your final guest numbers and details with you so you can have payment ready for our cook.

If you wish to pay by Credit Card, this can be arranged during office hours only.

    Q. Are there any hidden extras?

No. All costs are quoted at the time of your booking, or during future discussions, should you change your original selections.

    Q. Some of my guests have special dietary needs - what can you offer them?
We are happy to discuss the special dietary needs of any of your guests with you, such as diabetic, vegetarian or coeliac (gluten free). We want everyone to enjoy a McGoo's catered event!
